How to Navigate StopThink Institute Website
The StopThink Institute is organized around an accelerated knowledge management space expressed as a 3 X 3 matrix. The columns of the matrix
represent functionality, the rows applications. Each box in the matrix is a "knowledge corridor" which leads to a college dedicated to the
particular function/application pair; the college consists of a community, stories, and a library.
The function/application matrix is based on StopThink's view of what constitutes knowledge strategy and integration, and is consistent with
the Institute's mission of developing practical solutions. The three functions are quick fusion of data into knowledge (infospheres), valuation
of information and knowledge, and rapid implementation of expertise into workflow. The application areas are task (practices and projects)
deconstruction and improvement, semantic web and knowledge sharing, and I.T. and information assets (systems, people, quality and productivity programs).
Each college is led by a dean. The dean not only edits the forums, but also recruits new members, organizes exchanges, and develops new topics for
research and discussion. The topics are the central points of organization and therefore should span the forums.
The community forum is dedicated to exposition and research including links to formal bodies and working groups. Stories are case studies pertaining
to topics of the particular corridor. A library has links to materials and tools.
The three forums are wikis that allow for both knowledge building (through participation) and retrieval for learning. This structure encourages
group wisdom through interaction and aids in developing a vocabulary. A member joins one or more individual colleges and is able to access the
forums in each college.
